It is another poem about shepherds. Writing about shepherds is called pastoral poetry. Many poets wrote pastoral poetry. Marlow is one of them.
A shepherd is talking about his passionate love. The language is informal, easy, simple, everyday language. It is supposed to be said by a shepherd. We have a shepherd talking to his beloved. The language is simpler.
One of the qualities of pastoral poetry is that time is being unrealistic. It was not realistic. It was not poetry that really tells about those people. It was a fantastic, imaginative world of happiness, of everlasting bless. Those people are living in a serene beautiful atmosphere.
This kind of poetry was written by poets who were living in London, not living in the country side. So, what they wrote about pastoral life was imaginaryخيالى. It was unrealistic. They were writing about the world of the countryside that they would like to go and spend some time there. They write about a kind of life that they do not know anything about but they imagined what it should be. Their writing was not out of actual experience. It was not realistic. It was something fantastic. It is out of their fancy, their imagination. They think that what all the shepherds would do is to sit in the meadows and have their lambs, playing, jumping…..
