, architecture, painting, sculpture were ALL produced in imitation of classical antiquity (Greece and Rome الدراما و الشعر و النقد الأدبًي و الفنون و التعلٌيم والسٌياسة و الموضات و فن العمارة و الرسم و النحت جمٌعها نتٌجة لمحاكاة الأعمال التي تنتمي للعصور القدٌمية (الروم و الٌيونان) But the West’s relationship with antiquity علاقة الغرب مع العصور القديمة is not simple. لم تكن بسيطة It is full of contradictions and ambivalence. كانت مليئة بالازدواجية والتناقضات Roman poet Horace writes: قال الشاعر الروماني :هوراس “Captive Greece took its wild conqueror captive” الاسير اليوناني اخذ باسر محتله الهمجي مين المحتل هنا ( الروم ) كان يشرح هنا في رسالته Horace expresses a sense of inferiority and ambivalence احساسه بالنقص من القائل هنا : man who follows another not only finds nothing; he is not even looking. الانسان الذي يتبع انسانا اخر لن يجد شيئا ولا يعد حتى باحثا & “No past life has been lived to lend us glory, and that which has existed before us is not ours.” الماضي لا يهدينا المجد وما قد حلفه السابقون ليس من حقنا - Seneca سينيكا The Romans so desperately wanted to imitate the Greeks and so constantly failed to match them. الرومان ارادوا تقليد اليونان وفشلوا في مجاراتهم بسبب Imitation cannot produce originality. ان المحاكاة لا تجلب الاصالة . The Romans were a simple rural and uncultivated people الرومان كانوا بسيطين رييفيين غير متحضرين لكنهم برزوا في القوة العسكرية واصبحوا محاربين ناجحين became successful warriors, |

The period is called the Renaissance
because across Europe people wanted to “revive” the ancient learning of Rome and Greece. سمي عصر النهضة لان الناس في اوروبا ارادوا احياء المعارف العتيقة من روما واليونان في عصر النهضة قاموا الاوربيون باعادة اكتشاف كتب كانت لمين الكتب books of the Greeks and Romans مما سمح لهم بتطوير الادب والثقافة literature and a culture hundreds and hundreds of texts and books that no one had seen for hundreds of years. اكثر مساهامات افلاطون في النقد طهرت في حواره الشهير الجمهورية - Republic وضع افلاطون الفرق بين Mimesis و Diagesis المحاكاة والسرد او العرض والاخبار المسرحية بالشخصيات عادة تكون Mimesis محاكاة اما القصص فتكون Diagesis سرد Plato was the first to explain that narration or story telling افلاطون من اوائل المفكرين الذين بأن السرد او الحكاية من الممكن can proceed by narration or by imitation ان يكون من خلال السرد او المحاكاة قال افلاطون And narration may be either simple narration, or imitation, or a union of the two السرد يكون بسيطا او محاكاة او اتحاد الاثنين طبعا يجي السؤال من القائل ان السرد يكون بسيط او محاكاة او اتحاد الاثنين ااو سؤال وضعت المحاكاة والسرد مسميات ادبية بواسطة الاجابة افلاطون Plato Bans the Poet افلاطون يحظر الشعراء من المدينة والسبب Poetry Cripples the Mind الشعر يشل العقل Poetry excites the senses and neutralizes the brain and the thinking faculties. It produces docile and passive imitators انه يثير حماس الاحساسيس ويضعف قدرات العقل (ars) معناها all kinds of human activities which we would call crafts or sciences.” تدل على جميع النشاطات البشرية التي مكن ان نسميها حرف او علوم الشاعر الذي يصفه افلاطون في كتابه الجمهورية The poet that Plato describes in the Republic شاعر و مؤدي ومعلم is a poet, a performer and an educator. It is only in an oral society that poetry becomes the most principal source of knowledge and education. في المجتمع الشفهي يصبح الشعر فيه مصدرا للمعرفة والسبب The reason: in a society that does not have a system of writing , poetry becomes useful to record and preserve knowledge. ان المجتمع الذي لا يملك نظاما للكتابة يكون فيه الشعر فيه مفيدا في تسجيل المعارف والحفاظ عليها . طيب من دون نظام الكتابة كيف يمكن للمجتمع ان يحافظ على معارفه وعاداته وتقاليده ؟ Without a system of writing, how does a society preserve its knowledge, its customs and its traditions? الجواب بواسطة الشعر والاغاني Poetry and songs . |

ارسطوا له اعمال فلسفية ‘czar of literary criticism, هو فيصر النقد الادبي كتابه فن الشعر (poetics) عرف ارسطو التراجيديا Tragedy انها تقليد لحدث جاد an imitation of an action وقال ان التراجيديا تثير الخوف والشفقة Tragedy arouses pity and fear, because the audience can envision themselves within the cause-and-effect chain of the action لان الجمهور يتصور نفسه من خلال تسلسل الاحداث طبعا التراجيديا وفقا لارسطو تحتوي على 6 اجزاء Plot , Characters Thought , Diction , Spectacle (Melody Plot الحبكة والحبكة الممتازة ينبغي ان يكون لها بداية ووسط ونهاية The plot must be “a whole,” with a beginning, middle, and end. البداية اسمها incentive moment لحظة محفزة والوسط climax الاحداث والخاتمة resolutionوالتي يجب ان يكون فيها حل للمشكلة The end should therefore solve or resolve the problem الحبكة بمعناه الدقيق arrangement of these incidents in a cause-effect sequence of events. يمكن وصف الثقافة اليونانية القديمة على انها ثقافة حية Liveing culture يمكن وصف الثقافة الادبية في روما القديمة ثقافة المتحف Museum culture .. هوراس لم يكن ناقدا فيلسوف كاافلاطون وارسطو ولكن كان شاعرا يكتب النصيحة في صيغة قصيدة Horace, though, was not a philosopher-critic like Plato or Aristotle. He was a poet writing advice in the form of poems اسم قصيدته In Ars Poetica: ساوى Horace equates the preserved Greek culture (books) with “elegance” بين الثقافة اليونانية المحفوظة بالكتب بالاناقة and he equates the popular culture of his own time with “venom.” اما الثقافة الشعبية بـ السم ! يقول هوراس I will not die entirely,” writes Horace, “some principal part of me yet evading the great Goddess of Burials.” That great part of him was his books. انا لن اموت بشكل كامل وجزء مني سوف يهرف منالهة الدفن يقصد كتبه في قصيدته "Epistle to Maecena" يشتكي من بعض المقلدين How oft, ye servile crew Of mimics, when your bustling pranks I’ve seen, Have ye provoked my smiles – how often my spleen! وكتب “If you want me to cry, mourn first yourself, then your misfortunes will hurt me” Roman poet Horace writes: وكتب الشاعر الروماني :هوراس “Captive Greece took its wild conqueror captive” الاسير اليوناني اخذ باسر محتله الهمجي |
