Palatal: The roof of the mouth (the palate) rises sharply from the back of the alveolar ridge.. 8. Glottal (/h/):
Glottal: (the*glottis*is the space between the vocal folds). A*glottal*stop is a speech sound articulated by a momentary, complete closing of the*glottis*in the back of the throat.
