Descriptive Statistics Research: Survey Analysis 1. Give the definition of descriptive statistics research. ترى مو لازم كله , حطيته عشان تجمعون انفورمايشين Descriptive statistics is the discipline of quantitatively describing the main features of a collection of information, or the quantitative description itself. Descriptive statistics are distinguished from inferential statistics (or inductive statistics), in that descriptive statistics aim to summarize a sample, rather than use the data to learn about the population that the sample of data is thought to represent. This generally means that descriptive statistics, unlike inferential statistics, are not developed on the basis of probability theory. 2. What is the meaning of learner and teacher beliefs in research? It is the type of survey where respondents are asked to register their reactions on a 4 3 2 1 scale. It is also commonly referred to as a ( likert scale ). 3. Explain Likert scale. Likert scale can be on a 1 to 4 scale like this example: My teacher is very well orgnized. Strongly agree agree disagree Strongly disagree 4 3 2 1 or on a 1 to 5 scale, a 1 to 7 scale,etc. 4. How do we compile descriptive data? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????? 5. Describe analyzing descriptive data. We can analyze descriptive data in terms of : frequency or percentage, or by showing them in graphs or charts. Or we can sort through a set of numbers by calculating descriptive statistics. 6. What do we mean by percentages when analyzing data? Give an example. It is the method of calculating by dividing the total number in one category by the total number in all categories and multiplying the result by 100. For example: if we have 6 male who answered a questionnaire out of 17 subjects. so we would divide the number in the male category (6) by the number in all categories ( males + females = 6 + 11 = 17), which would be calculated as follows: (6/17) * 100 = .353 * 100 = 35.3% or about 35% بالله مين قالهم اننا داخلين قسم رياضيات )( 7. What is graphical display of data? It is a way of showing frequency ( or percentages data) by graphing them out in a histogram. for example تطبيق لنفس المثال اللي فوق حق الحريم و الرجاجيل : Frequency X 11 X 10 X 9 X 8 X 7 X 6 X x 5 X X 4 X X 3 X X 2 X X 1 x X females males 8. What are surveys? واااضح بالكتاب 9. Write a paragraph about writing good surveys? واااضح بالكتاب 10. How do we interpret descriptive research? 11. How do you reflect on descriptive research? |
