السؤال (بعد التفصيل):- In the first class, I explained to you the following: 1. Making sentences using verb to "be" (am, is, are). 2.Articles (a, an) 3. subject nouns (singular, plural, pronouns) a, noun + is + noun: singular b. noun+ are + noun: plural c. pronoun + Be + noun 4. Contractions with BE. 5. Negative with BE 6. BE + ADJECTIVES 7. Be + places 8. Yes/No question with Be. 9. Short answers to Yes/No questions. 10. Some feeling vocabulary. 11. Finally, Using Have and Has In our discussion. * Write one lesson that you have got from this first lecture. * Try to answer this question "Have you learned anything new from this lesson? Tell us what you've learned. * Also, if you were me, how are you going to teach verb to "be"? Looking forward to read your responses. ----------------------------------------------------------- جواب المناقشة الاولى :- I have learned how to use articles ( an,a). - Yes, I have learned a lot of new informations from this lesson. I learned that :- • a = indefinite article (not a specific object, one of a number of the same objects) with consonants . She has a dog. I work in a factory. • an = indefinite article (not a specific object, one of a number of the same objects) with vowels (a,e,i,o,u). Can I have an apple? She is an English teacher. • • • DO NOT use an article when you are speaking about things in general. I like Russian tea. She likes reading books. • • DO NOT use an article when you are speaking about meals, places, and transport. He has breakfast at home. I go to university. He comes to work by taxi. - I would explain verb "To Be" as follow :- Positive : I am from Seattle. He is from Toronto. She is from Toronto. It is from Toronto. We are from The kingdom of Saudi Arabia. You are from The kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They are from The kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Negative : I am not (I'm not) from Seattle. He is not (isn't) from Toronto. She is not (isn't) from Toronto. It is not (isn't) from Toronto. We are not (aren't) from Japan. You are not (aren't) from Japan. They are not (aren't) from Japan. Questions : Where am I from? Where is he / she / it from Where are we / you / they from? Read the text below as an example :- My name is Sultan Abudllah and I'm a teacher. My address is Green Street, 19 and my telephone number is 010001 . I'm 25 years old and I'm married. My daughter, Katherine, is two and half years old. My wife, Barbara, is Italian. She is a doctor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ الثاني:- السؤال (بعد التفصيل) :- Dear Students, In our second lecture, we have talked about: 1. scanning & skimming, 2. Rules of pronoun reference 3.Some structures such as verb to be (am, are, is) and their negative forms. Answer only of the following questions: 1. What's the difference between scanning and skimming? or 2. What are the rules of pronoun reference? give me two examples at least. or 3. Explain to me, the use of verbs to be. Give me examples. --------------------------------------------------------------- جواب المناقشة الثانية :- - The difference between scanning and skimming is:- Scanning is: a technique you often use when looking up a word in the the telephone book or dictionary. You search for key words or ideas. In most cases, you know what you're looking for, so you're concentrating on finding a particular answer. Scanning involves moving your eyes quickly down the page seeking specific words and phrases. while Skimming is for the topic Main Idea and topic is just a word or noun phrase – a few words. It is not a sentence.
