Call to Islam
Lecture 1
​

* what is Islam?
Islam is the religion Allah SWT . the prophet of Islam Muhammad PBUH (peace be upon him) .

The book revealed to prophet Muhammad is the Quran.
The followers of Islam are called Muslims: and anyone who convert to Islam is called a new Muslim .

Allah SWT sent others prophets before Muhammad PBUH.
Among these prophets we can mention Moses who was sent to the Jews .
His book is the Bible and his religion is Judaism and Jesus Christ whose book is the New Testament and this religion is Christianity .

* what is the main characteristic of Islam?
Islam is a religion for all humans as Muhammad PBUH was sent to all mankind . He is the last prophet "the seal of prophets" .

Allah SWT will not send any prophet to humans .

All human beings are asked to follow the religion of Muhammad and Allah will not accept any other religion from humans except Islam .

Muslim will be rewarded in paradise . and non Muslims
will be punished in the hell .

Non- Muslims: those who do not believe in Islam are called (unbelievers) or (Atheists) .
They do not follow the right path .


* Define the term Islam provide the linguistic definition of Islam?

Islam is an Arabic word , it derives from the morphological root (S.L.M) which means submission to (to submit yourself to someone) .

A Muslim should warship Allah SWT . He has to pray five times per day and night to fast during the month of Ramadan to give alms to perform pilgrimage to Makkah at least once during his lifetime if the is able (can) to do so.

Lecture 2

* Identify the term call to Islam?
Call to Islam is Dawah in Arabic it means to call a non-Muslim to convert to Islam and to believe in Allah SWT and Muhammad as a messenger .

* provide a proof from the Quran?
In chapter 16 "the bees" verse 125,
Allah SWT said "call to the way of your lord with wisdom and good preaching and argue with them in the better way" .

* when you are teaching a new Muslim how to pray . you should teach him her the Fatihah (Prologue)
and its meanings in English .

* Translate the Fatihah into English .
In the name of Allah the most Merciful . the most compassionate .

- Praise be to Allah , the Lord of all being the
all–merciful , the all-compassionate .

- King of the day of judgment .

- You alone was worship , and you alone was ask for help .

- Guide us to the straight path .

- The path of those you have blessed .

- Not of those who have earned your anger. nor those who have gone astray .

* Non- Muslim have wrong ideas about Islam .
and it is your duty as Muslim to correct them .

* P4; What should non-Muslim do to discover the beauty and truth of Islam?
Non- Muslim have to clean up their minds from preconceptions and prejudgments to see the beauty of Islam .

* P4; How do non-Muslims see Islam?
Non-Muslims have preconceptions and negative notions about Islam .
They have collected their ideas on Islam from (biased media) . we stem media portrayed Muslims as terrorists who kill innocent people , children and pregnant women.

Western heard about Islam from unauthentic or biased sources . mainly sources written by Orientalists

Lecture 3
(In the Name of Allah)

* Provide 4 examples of clarity of Islam?

1- clarity about the creation of the universe .
2- clarity about the concept of worship .
3- clarity about purpose of life .
4- clarity about our last destination .

* Define these Islamic terms : Allah, Muhammad, Islam , Muslim , the Glorious Quran ( the answer is in p 6)

s most critical questions’State some of the humanity

1-who created us ?
2- whom should we worship?
3- why are we here?
4- what is our last destination?


* Who created the universe ?
In Islam, the creator of the universe is Allah SWT .
But there are those who say that the universe existed by chance, or that the nature created itself these are called naturalists .

* Who creates nature according to Islam ?
In Islam the unique creator is Allah SWT . Nature and all beings are mere creation of god this fact is ment ioned in Quran verses and prophet's sayings .



* Provide one proof from the Quran for this fact :
P:12 (2-21) (39-5) (21-33)

Translate this verse into English
Translate this verse into Arabic

* Those who do not believe in the creation of the universe do not believe in the existence of Allah because they do not believe in the unseen, they believe only in the experimental world .

* conclusion : if you can't see god in this life because of our limited faculties and senses which can't comprehend ( understand ) his greatness, this must not make us deny his existence .

Lecture 4

* Atheists: are those who do not believe in the existence of God. They say that universe existed by chance .

* Define the theory of evolution :
The theory of evolution is a scientific theory claiming that new species arise by natural selection . it is called Darwinism, referring to Charles Darwin .
Darwin said that became humans used to be monkeys, then, they became humans by natural evolution .

* P15 : The Muslim who correctly worship Allah SWT and completely follows His commandments will be admitted to Paradise . and those who disobey Allah and fellow their sins and desires will be punished in hell .

* How can one attain real happiness?
One can attain real happiness only through belief in and submission to the one true God: Allah SWT .

* Tawheed Rububiyyah:
Means to believe that no one and nothing above or equal to Allah SWT . (لم يكن له كفواً أحد)

* Tawheed Uluhiyyah:
Means that a Muslim must know and worship Allah only SWT .



* P16: Translate the sure of al-Iklaas in to English :
Say: he is Allah the one, Allah the Eternal . He begets not , nor is he begotten ; and there is none like unto Him .


* What do you infer from this chapter?
This chapter briefly and concisely tells us the ultimate truth about the one his true attributes. It answers critical and signify cant questions that puzzle millions of people.

* Provide 4 qualities that distinguish Allah from other who claim to be gods .

1-Allah is creator .
2- Allah is eternal .
3-Allah is one .

Christians believe in the incarnation (=personification=embodiment)
Attributes= qualities = features .


* Provide (write down) 4 keys that help attain peace of mind .
(answer p:19)


* What are the main authentic sources of Islam?
The main authentic sources of Islam are the glorious Quran and the prophetic sayings ( Hadiths).

* How can we attain peace of mind ?
We can attain peace of mind by knowing and believing in the one true god Allah SWT .

* What is the Islamic Testimony ?
" I testify that is co god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah ".

* Is belief alone enough in Islam?
No, belief alone is not enough in Islam because a Muslim mush worship Allah SWT to be rewarded .



* What is the reward for those who believe in Allah?
Those who believe in Allah and worship him will be admitted to Paradise , and those who did not believe in Allah will be punished in Hell.

* What are the six articles of faith ?
( explain the 1/2 … article of faith )

1- Belief in Allah: is the belief in Allah's existence , names and attributes and lordship .

2- Belief in the angels: is the belief in the angels who praise Allah and carry out his orders .

3- Belief in the books: is the belief in all the books revealed to the prophets including the Bible, the Gospel and the Quran .

4- Belief in the messengers: is the belief in all the messengers sent to guide humanity .

5- Belief in the last day: the belief in the day of judgment when humans will be judged according to their deeds and actions .

6- Belief in the destiny: belief in what Allah has decreed to you whether good or bad .









* What are the five pillars of Islam?
(explain the pillars of Islam)
(provide the benefits of the pillars of islam) .

1- The testimony: is " I testify that there is no god but Allah and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ".

​2- Prayer: is to perform five daily mandatory prayers .

# Benefits of prayer : it provide us with spiritual growth and peace of souls minds and hearts .

3- Alms giving: is giving an amount of money to the poor and needy each year .

# Benefits of Alms giving : it fosters support, help and solidarity in society .

4- Fasting: Not having food and drink from down to sunset .

# benefits of fasting :
Spiritual benefits .
Moral and emotional benefits .
Educational benefits .
Health benefits .

5- Pilgrimage: Visiting Makka at least once in your life time if you are physically and financially able to do so .

# The benefits : pilgrimage teaches us submission and obedience to Allah, unity , patience and sacrifice .

The quran speks with the perfect knowledge of the creator.

The proof "if you judge between mankind that you judge with justice"4/58
3- Equality
The proof "we have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another" 49/13

what was the religion that God ordained for Adam and Eve?
According to the Quran, the religion chosen for us was simply complete submission to God, which is islam in arabic the Quran describes it as the religion of Abraham who was called God's friend ( خليل الله ).

what is the islamic perspective concerning submission?
the islamic perspective is that every person is born with a soule in submission to God, but he or she is free to make choices that confrom to or divert from the life of righteousness (الاستقامه) for which her or she was created.
