Why can't we divide by zero لماذا لا يمكننا القسمة على صفر
If you try to divide any number by zero in any calculator it will give you an error message
Why is that? let's see
Multiplication is actually multiple additions, for example, 5 × 4 is incriminating 5 four times
5+5+5+5
and the answer is obviously 20
On the other hand, division is multiple subtractions. For example, 24 ÷ 6 is in fact 24 - 6 until you reach 0
that is:
24 - 6 = 18
18 - 6 = 12
12 - 6 = 6
6 - 6 = 0
we needed to subtract 6 from 24 for 4 times to reach 0
then the answer is 4
another example
27 ÷ 9
27 - 9 = 18
18 - 9 = 9
9 - 9 = 0
we needed to do it three times to reach zero, then the answer is 3
Now let's see what's the problem with zero
if we say, for example, 6 ÷ 0
then we will need to do
6 - 0 = 6
6 - 0 = 6
6 - 0 = 6
.
.
.
etc.
and it will go forever without reaching the result Zero
so the answer is "undefined" or infinity
or simply there is no answer because there is no reachable result
And this is the end of our lecture
you can go home now
