الأمل شيء ذو ريش
يقبع ضمن الروح
ويعزف اللحن بدون كلمات (تجسيد)
ولا يتوقف أبداً.
وأجمل مافي العاصفة يُسمع،
ولابد أن الإعصار صعب
قادرٌ على إرباك الطائر الصغير
الذي بقي دافئاً مرات عديدة.
لقد سمعته في الأراضي شديدة الصقيع
وفوق البحر الأكثر غرابة،
ومع أنه كان في ضيق شديد
لم يطلب مني كسرة خبز أبداً.(تجسيد)
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words, (تجسيد)
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
