An exclamatory sentence usually expresses the (expressive) function "the universe is bounded!"
But can also express the (expressive) function "I am glad!"

There is something wrong here. It should be
the exclamatory sentence usually expresses the expressive function ( I am glad!)
but it can also express the informative function( The universe is bounded!).
