Modern British drama:

In the mid 1950 authors found the courage to shock their conventional audiences, and to write what they wanted to write, rather than what the audiences wanted to. This new, dramatic writing sprang from a society where theater was becoming more widely available, and where education was helping to produce vocal and literate young writers from all classes.
