اللفظ يستخدم فقط للأمريكان الأصليين اللي هم الهنود يعني ..اما غير الأمريكان الأصليين لا يسمح لهم باستخدام اللفظ

The problem of “recognition & being recognized” is very consequential & problematic for Native Americans
قد يكون عندهم مشكلة بالإدراك .. ( يعني ما يعرفون انهم هنود حقيقيين مثل الاحفاد مضعيين اصلهم ما يدرون وش يرجعون وآهلهم يبون يعرفون آجدادهم )

People with such (biological) ties can fail to get recognized as a “real Indian,” & people of mixed kinship can be so recognized
الهندي الحقيقي اللي مرتبط نسبه وجذوره بالهنود الحقيقيين قد لا يعرف انه هندي حقيقي
الي نسبه مختلط – يثبت اصله ويعرف انتسابه للهنود الحقيقيين

“real Indian” is not something one can simply be

مو شي سهل انك تكون هندي حقيقبي يعني تصرفاتك وافعالك لازم تثبت ذلك

If one does not continue to “practice” being a “real Indian,” one ceases to be one
اذا كف الشخص عن ممارسة افعالهم يعني راح يتوقف عن أنه يكون منهم يعني بيتبرون منه

doing being-&-becoming-a-“real-Indian” is not something that one can do all by oneself. It requires the participation of others
الممارسة طبعا مو شي يسويه الشخص لوحده ..لازم يكون بمشاركة الآخرين

هناك طرق وأشياء نميز فيها الهندي الحقيقي منها :
“Real Indians” prefer to avoid conversation with strangers, Native American or otherwise

الهندي الحقيقي يتجنب الحديث مع الغرباء
They cannot be related to one another as “mere acquaintances,” as some “non-Indians” might put it
مايرتبطون ببعض كمعارف ..يعني تقرب لي أو ماتقرب لي ما اعترف فيك
“real Indians,” any conversation they do have with a stranger who may turn out to be a “real Indian
يعتبرون أي محادثة مع الغريب بتحوله لهندي حقيقي وهم مايبون احد ينتسب لهم مكتفين
search for the other‟s “real Indianness” & in their display of their own “Indianness,” “real Indians” frequently engage in a distinctive form of verbal sparring
عشان يتأكدون أن الشخص هذا هندي حقيقي يدخلون معه في نوع من الحديث نسميه السجال اللفظي
this sparring, which “Indians” call “razzing
الهنود يسمون هذا السجال بالشجب
