Singular and plural exercise
امثله استخدام الاسماء المفرد والجمع
Fill the gaps with the correct form of the nuns ( singular or plural)
عندنا مجموعه من ثمان جمل كل جمله تحتوي ع اسمين مفرد او جمع ونحن نختار الاسم الصحيح هو مفرد او جمع
1/ the ate same ( tomato or tomatoes)
Tomatoes
2/ you can put ( sugar or sugars) in your tea
Sugar
3/ we have to buy new ( furniture or furniture's)
furniture
4/ I need to wash my ( hair or hairs)
Hair
5/ we had lots of ( fun or funs )
Fun
6/ the Milford's have a lot of ( money or moneys)

7/ how many ( people or peoples) were at the cinema with you

8/ in this hotel, ( family or families) are very welcome

Article
Basically, an article is an adjective. Like adjective, articles modify nuns
اداوات التعريف ونتكير تعتبر صفات لانه مثل صفات ترتبط وتحدد الاسم
The = definite article
اداة التعريف وتقابلها بالغه العربيه ال التعريف
A/an = indefinite article
اداوات نكره لا تحمل اداة العريف
Let's read a book ( any book)
Let's read the book ( specific book)
الفرف بين ذا و أ التعريف
الجمله الاولى دعنا نقرا كتاب
الجمله الثانيه دعنا نقرا الكتاب
الاولى مادري اي كتاب بس جمله ثانيه نعرف الكتاب اللي راح نقراه
the is used to refer to a specific or particular member of a group
ذا استخدم مع اسم او عضو معين او محدد في قروب
( I just saw the most popular movie of the year)
انا شاهدة اشهر فلم لهذا السنه
استخدمنا ذا لانه نتكلم عن فلم محدد
A/an is used to refer to a non-specific or non-particular member of the group
ا او ان تستخدم للحديث عن اسم غير محدد
( I would like to go see a movie)
انا حب ان اذهب لمشاهدة فلم
• remember, using a or an depends on the sound that begins the next word. So
تذكر الان ان أ او ان يعتمد استخدامها ع صوت التي تبدا فيه الكلمه التي بعدها مباشرة
A + singular noun beginning with a consonant: a boy ; a car ; a bike ; a zoo ; a dog
أ تستخدم مع الاسم مفرد الذي يبدا بحرف ساكن
حرف ساكن ماهو حرف العله
حرف العله ( a,u,o,e,i)
An+ singular noun beginning with a vowel : an elephant ; an egg ; an apple ; an idiot ; An orphan
أن تستخدم مع الاسم المفرد الذي يبدا بحرف العله

A + singular noun beginning with a consonant sound: a user
( sounds like ' yoo-zer', ' i.e. Begins with a consonant 'y' sound, so 'a' is used ) ; a university ; a unicycle
أ نستخدمها مع الاسم المفرد اذا بدا بصوت ساكن

حرف يو حرف عله ليه ماحطينا أن لانه تنطق يووزر تنطق حرف واي والواي حرف ساكن
An+ nouns starting with silent 'h' : an hour
أن نستخدمها مع الاسم المفرد اذا بداء بصوت حرف عله
An hour
ان اور بدت بصوت حرف ساكن وكذا نظيف ان

Uncountable noun
الاسماء الغير معدوده
Uncountable nouns are substances etc that we cannot divide into separate elements.
الاسماء الغير معدوده هي الاسماء التي لايمكن تجزيئها الى اجزاء
امثله على الكلمات الغير معدوده
• music, art , love, happiness
• advice information, news
• furniture, luggage
• rice , sugar , butter, water
• electricity, gas , power
• money, currency
We usually treat uncountable nouns as singular. We use a singular verb
دايما نعامل الاسماء الغير المعدوده معاملة المفرد حتى لو تدل ع جمع
For example:
This news is very important هذي اخبار جدا مهمه
Your luggage looks heavy تبدو لغتك ثقيله
We do not usually use the the indefinite article a/an with uncountable nouns. We cannot say " an information " or " a music ". But we can say a something of :
• a piece of news
• a bottle of water
• a grain of rice
عادة مانستخدم ادوات التنكير أ او أن مع الاسماء غير معدود
مانضيف لهم ا او ن لهم الا اذا ضفنا قبلها كلمه عشان تدل ع العدديه ونقدر نظيف عليها أ او أن

We can use a some and any with uncountable nouns
ممكن نستخدم صم او اني مع الاسماء غير المعدود
I've got some money. حصلت على بعض المال
Have you got any rice? هل حصلت على اي ارز ؟
We can use a little and much with uncountable nouns
نقدر نستخدم ليتر ارو متش مع الاسماء غير معدوده
I've got a little money حصلت القليل من المال
I haven't got much rice ماحصلت على الكثير من الارز
