of medival " Romance" and more generally to rich imagenitive activty displayed in
that world , which is deeply characterstic of the late 18th century and early 19th century writers.

as " freely imagintive idealizing fiction " and not as " love between men and women " is the true
basis for the term " Romantic age " ,
Romantic : originally reffered to highly imagintive medival tales of knightly adventure
written in the french from the origin Latin language .

* Romantic writers emphisized imagenation and emotions - 18th century writers stressed reason and judgment .

-the victorians had mixed feeling about their position as a world
power : some celcbrated the industrial development and properity of England .
Other were less confident about England progress which they
believed was being achieved at great cost to traditional human relationship .
- the victorians were veracious readers : they thrived not only on the massive novels of Dickens nad Thackery but also on political and religious tracts.
