1- moral Philosophy teaches "virtue" by defining its causes and effects and showing its enemy"vice" and its servant "passion" through generalities.
2- Historians are acquainted with the past only not present or future

4-The poet is a moderator excelling both the philosopher and the histoian

Sidney points out the defects of contemporary English poetry:
1- Tragedies are not following the rule of the three unities of time,place and action
2-Dramatists must give what is probable (should be ) not what is or was
3-dramatists have the liberty to change history for tragical convenience because they are makers of a new and better world
4-They shoud differentiate between what can be naarated and what can be acted on stage
5-some writers mix tragedy with comedy which he considrs wrong.
6-poetry aims at delighting,but not necessarily laughter,together with teaching.Sometime laughter destroys delight.
7-There are weak songs and sonnets presented at that time(artificial).
8-he criticises poetry that employs affectionat language.
9-some minor English poems make use of similitudes or conceits in a faulty manner.
10-Good poets are not all professors of learning
11-it is a defect to borrow from other languages like French,Dutch,spanish, Italian.Enghlish language is rich and melodious and fits versification whether ancient or new
