Renaissance -
the word renaissance means {rebirth} it is used to describle generally the period 1350 _ 1600 in Europe the renaissance spirit came first to Italy and from there it travelled to france, Germany and England
The renaissance spirit came to England in 16th century. the period in England was great in what it achieved. sublime in what it dreamed . abounding in ripe wisdom, heroic in what deeds, full of right and of beauty and of life .
The rediscovery of classical authors and works provides ideas,materials, literary, forms and style to renaissance .
Revival of the knowledge of Greak language and Latin literature was made possible by invention of printing press .
Literature became individualistic, scientific and secular .
The classical models roused the intellectual and imaginative faculties of English writers .
They benefited much in pastoral poetry, epic, drama , lyrice , sonnet and prose .
