Farewell love
* Paraphrase :
The poet likes to leave his beloved as she always refuses his love and considers him as a miserable man . So he decides to leave her and enter the world of knowledge . Before his departure , he tells her that she can catch only the younger men but not him because he is a mature man . He hear the calls of Seneca and Plato's books and he accept their invitation .
He considers love as a dark jail and he would to be free from the jail .
He says that he is like a fish and his beloved is like a fisherman but her darts are very weak . She can only hunt the younger men but not him because he is an adult .
At the end of the poem he adresses his beloved and says that : you are like a rotten boughs which have a bad smell and no one can climb upon them .

Rotten bough - here beloved is compared as a rotten bough which have a bad smell and no one can climb upon them .
Farewell love - personification , love is treated as a person .

The theme of this poem is love . The poet talks about his decision to leave his beloved and go to another world , which is the world of knowledge .
