the Duke of Ferrari and the Spanish Monk
They both share wickedness, education, jealousy and intelligence. The Spanish monk is more cunning than the duke. They both manipulate words. The duke is more greedy. Both are paradoxical characters.
_ The duke is more cruel “I gave commands; Then all smiles stopped together.”, but the monk in a hypocrite. He does not want to show that he is doing something evil. The duke is not frightened but he is clear because he is superior. He does not negotiate but he gives commands and that is it. While the monk, he tries to manipulate things and be seen as a good man.
_ The duke is an artist and likes art and has a great taste of art. The Spanish monk does not have a sense of art, because he reads these lecherous novels. That is because he is interested in flesh.
