Charon's palm= a strange creature with two corns that is said to be responsible to carry soul from life to the after life.
a sonnet is like fixed charge in the palm of Charon. The sonnet has a fixed form . He likens the sonnet with its fixed form . The sonnet is like the fixed charge usually put in Charon's palm to carry the soul from life to death, from the state of being alive, to the state of being dead.
