It is French word. It means Rebirth.

It applies to the period marking the transition from the medieval to the modern world. In Western Europe.

1- The invention of printing (in Germany)
2- The Protestant reformation.
3- The movement to commercial market for literature.
4- Political and historical changes (led to democracy, the spirit of nationalism and individualism).
How did renaissance revitalize the life in general and the university life in particular?
They started to establish many universities, encouragement of literature, the new geography (the discovery of America) and the new astronomy(Copernicus and Galileo).
What was the believe about the center of the universe before the renaissance and after it?
Before the coming of renaissance people believed that the earth is the center of the universe, and after it they believed that the sun is the center of the universe.
