What is the definition of renaissance?


Definition(1): The great flowering of art, architecture, Politics, and the study of literature.


Definition(2): The period in European history that marked the end of the Middle Ages.


Definition(3): The movement which saw renewed European interest in classical culture between the late fourteenth and mid-seventeenth centuries.



When is the period of the renaissance?


The end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the Modern world.



What models influences the renaissance?


Greek and Roman models.



Where did the renaissance begin? And when?


It began in Italy in the late 14th cent.



When was the culmination of renaissance(when did it reach the top)?


In the early 16th cent "the period of Michelangelo(in the field of art) and Machiavelli(in the field of Politics)".



When did the renaissance spread to the rest of Europe?


In the 15th cent, and afterwards.



What was the renaissance emphasis?


Its emphasis was humanist(regarding the human figure and reason),


without a necessary relating of it to the superhuman.



From where did the renaissance energy come from?


Much of its energy came from the Neoplatonic tradition in writers such as Pico della Mirandola.



What's the watershed in the development of civilization? And why?


The Italian Renaissance.


Because of:


1- Its extent.


2- Its emphasis on the human(independent of or in association with the divine).



What could the renaissance be described as?


"Early Modern".



Did the beginnings of renaissance precede or come after the accession of Elizabeth I?


It precede her accession.
