Identifying the setting, characters, and conflict in a narrative:
- Setting: the time and place.
- Characters: the main people who are in the story.
- Plot: the action that starts with a conflict, develops into a complication, and ends with a resolution(solution of the conflict).
Go to page 140:
getting the meaning of words from context:
Flattered by: pleased by the kind words.
Startled: scared by a sudden surprise.
Be mortifying to : embarrassing.
Succulent: juicy
Absentmindedly: without thinking
Inadequate tip: generous
