A Two-Stage Approach to creative translation
According to David Pendlebury (2005, page 15), creative translation usually involves two recognisable main stages:
وفقالـ David Pendlebury الترجمة الإبداعية عادة تتضمن مرحلتين رئيسية :
1. Firstly we produce a draft translation of the original that is as literal and accurate as possible.
أولاً: ننتج او نكتب مسودة ترجمة للنص الأصلي ان تكون بحرفية ودقه قدر الامكان .
In any type of translation draft, we are bound to encounter a number of ‘gaping holes’ and pitfalls.
في أي نوع من مسودة الترجمة ، ملزمين بمواجهة عدد من الثغرات والزلات الهائله.
For the moment these simply have to be noted and left where they are.
Such draft is also bound to throw up a number of ‘gaffes’ and misconceptions which have to be left until they are pointed out by an expert in the source language, or until such time they work their way , like an itch, into the translator’s conscious mind.
ببساطة نلاحظ ونترك الزلات في هذه المرحله .
بمرحلة المسودة ملزمين أيضا بترك عدد من 'الزﻻت' والمفاهيم الخاطئة التي قد نتركها حتى تحدد خارجا عن طريق خبير في اللغة المصدر أو حتى وقت عمل طريقة لهم بعقل الترجم الواعي .
2. We then ‘translate’ this draft, with only minimal reference to the original,
المرحلة الثانية: ترجمة هذه المسودة مع اشاره بسيطه للنص الاصلي
into a form that as far as possible reflects and does justice to the author’s overall intention, while doing minimum violence to the target language.
في نموذج قدر الامكان عكس وعدالة نية المؤلفين عامة، أثناء القيام بادنى اساءة الى اللغة المستهدفه.
This stage of ‘weaning away’ from the original is nearly always necessary; otherwise the end result is likely to remain unduly influenced by what are arbitrary features of source language
بهذه المرحلة ‘weaning away’ نفطمها بعيدا عن النص الأصلي تقريبا من الظروري يعني بمرحلة مسوده الترجمة نفصلها تماما عن النص الاصلي ؛ خلاف ذلك النتيجة النهائية محتمل أن تظل متأثرة بافراط بمميزات عشوائية من اللغة المصدر.
Example
Now let’s look at the translation of the following excerpt taken from a short storywritten by Dr Muhammad Alnaimi and see the difference between versions A and B
هنا اعطنا مقتطفات بسيطة من قصة قصيرة كتبها الدكتورمحمد النعيمي 
<< مدري دكتورنا ماغيرة !! وانظر الفرق بين AوB ومثل ماوضح الدكتور بالشرح ان النوع الثاني B هو اكثر ابداعية .
ودل على ابداعها استخدامه لهذه العبارة scorching summerتعبر عن الحر الشديد
ويمكن والله اعلم يجيبها بالاختبار فاحنا نستدل بهذه العباره ونختار السطر الموجوده فيه ولا ايش رأيكم ؟
كان يوماً ملتهباً كطفل نالت منه الحمى. الشارع الإسفلتي عربيد أسود ضل طريقه. أماالشجيرات على جانبي الطريق فقدكانت تلهث لأن هناك من نسي ارواءها. الغبارحناء تناثرت في المكان لتصبغ حتى ثناياه،وأغطية البوظة الورقية الذهبية والفضية والمحارم الناعمة المستخدمة تناثرت على مد البصر.
A. It was a very hot afternoon as the child experienced the heat of a fever. The Street was like a drunk who had lost his way. Trees on sides of the road were bare, thirsty and gasping as if someone had forgotten to water them. Dust covered the trees, and ice cream covers yellow and silver and used tissues scattered as far as one can see
scorching summerتعبر عن الحر الشديد
B. It was a scorching summer afternoon. The feverish heat of the day made people stay indoors. The street was as quiet as a mouse in the locker room. The trees on both sides of the street were as thirsty as a dog left behind in a desert panting for a sip of water. Dust was like henna scattered all over the place and used golden and silver ice-cream wrappers and facial tissues had already littered the street for a distance as far as one can see.
