My neighborhood is a fascinating place, it is in one of the biggest cities in the world, New York City, however, there is a small-town feeling to it. Most of the buildings in the neighborhood are small brick apartment houses, they have peeling red and brown paint. Many of the people her have lived in the neighborhood for years, they know each other and take pride in the neighborhood.They have planted trees and flowers in from of the buildings, they have built benches where the old people sit andtalk. Since many of the people are from Germany and Eastern Europe, there are wonderful German, Hungarian, and Polish shops here. I wouldn't want to live in any other neighborhood of the city.

Dear Editor,

Regarding the article about people who don't pay taxes on money they make from small home businesses (Government Targets Small Business Owners, Oct. 23), my opinion is that the government should stay out of at least one part of our lives-our income!
First of all, most people who run small businesses are honest, law*-abiding citizens. Many of them have other jobs where they pay more than their share of taxes (unlike the very wealthy, who find ways to pay almost no taxes). Others are people who want jobs where taxes are automatically taken out of their paychecks but can't find them.
Secondly, the government requires too much paperwork from small businesses. If these businesspeople have to keep the complicated records that the tax people require, they won't have time to sell old furniture, prepare food for parties, or whatever their business involves.
Finally, and most importantly, this is supposed to be a free coun*try, but the government interferes everywhere. Let us be free at least in our own homes!

بخصوص المقالة حول الناسِ الذين لا يَدْفعونَ الضرائبَ على الأموال التي تجعل من الإعمال المنزلية الصغيرة (أهداف حكومية أصحاب الأعمال الصغيرة، 23 أكتوبر)، ورأيي هو ان الحكومة يجب ان تبقى من واحد على الأقل جزءا من حياتنا، لدينا الدخل!
أولا، فإن معظم الناس الذين يديرون الشركات الصغيرة ملتزمين بالقانون وموطنين. العديد مِنْهم عِنْدَهُمْ وظائفُ أخرى حيث يَدْفعونَ أكثر مِنْ سهمهم مِنْ الضرائبِ (وخلافا للأثرياء جدا، الذين يجدون السبل لعدم دفع أي ضرائب تقريبا). الآخرون هم الناس الذين يريدون وظائف حيث الضرائب تؤخذ تلقائيا من رواتبهم ولكن لا يمكن العثور عليها.
ثانيا، الحكومة يتطلب الكثير من الأوراق التجارية الصغيرة. إذا هذه رجالِ الأعمال يَجِبُ أَنْ يَحتفظوا بالسجلاتِ الصعبة التي تطالب بضرائب الناس، لن يكون لديها الوقت لبيع الأثاث القديم وإعداد الطعام للأحزاب، أو أيا كان ينطوي على أعمالهم.
وأخيرا، والأهم من ذلك ، هذا هو المفترض أن يكون بلدا حرا، ولكن الحكومة تتدخل في كل مكان. دعونا على الأقل أن تكون حرة في بيوتنا!
