1. The referent of an expression is often a thing or person in the world; whereas the sense of an expression is not a thing at all.
المرجع للتعبير غالبا ما يكون الشيء أو الشخص في العالم، أما عن الإحساس تعبيرا ليست شيئا على الإطلاق.
The sense of an expression is an abstraction in the mind of a language user.
الشعور هو تعبير عن فكرة مجردة في العقل مستخدم اللغة
When a person understands fully what is said to him, it is reasonable to say that he grasps the sense of the expression he hears.
عندما يكون الشخص يدرك تماما ما ُيقال له، فمن المعقول أن نقول أنه يمسك بمعنى التعبير الذي سمعه .

2. Every meaningful expression has sense, but not every meaningful expression has reference.
كل تعبير ذو معنى (ذو مغزى) له شعور، ولكن ليس كل تعبير ذو معنى له مرجعية.
e.g. The words “almost”, “if” and “probable” have sense, but they do not refer to a thing in the world.
على سبيل المثال عبارة "تقريبا"، "إذا" و "المحتمل" لديهم شعور، لكنها لا تشير إلى شيء في العالم.
