• Some word stress rules :
a) Stress is placed on the first syllable of ( nouns and adjectives) consisting of 2 syllables. الأسماء والصفات التي تتكون من مقطعين يكون التشديد في الأول مثل :
Absence - abcent
b) The verbs consisting of 2 syllables are stressed on the last syllable. الأفعال التي تتكون من مقطعين يكون التشديد في المقطع الثاني
c) Stress is placed on the second syllable in word + (ic – tion – sion ) at the end . يكون التشديد في المقطع الثاني في الكلمات التي تنتهي بالنهايات السابقة من مثل :
Magic – division – exhipition
