معنى مزدوج إما : كيف أستغليت أيامي (أو) كيف استغليت بصري
2. Ere half my days: Before half my life is over. Milton was completely blind by 1652, the year he turned 44.
حرثت نصف أيامي : قبل أن تنقضي نصف أيامي في الحياة . كان ميلتون ( كاتب القصيدة) قد أصيب تماماً بالعمى في سنه 1652
3. talent: See Line 3 which is a key to the meaning of the poem.
وهبه: كلمه( رئيسية) في القصيده
4. useless: Unused. عديم النفع : غير مٌستعمل
5. therewith: By that means, by that talent; with it وبذلك : بتلك الموهبه

6. account: Record of accomplishment; worth . سجلّ إنجازاتي و تحقيقاتي في الحياة
7. exact: Demand, require طلب أو فرض
8. fondly: Foolishly, unwisely بسذاجه
9. Patience: Milton personifies patience, capitalizing it and having it speak.

الصّبر : جسد ميلتون كلمة الصبر بأحرف كابيتال و كأنها هي من تتحدّث

10. God . . . gifts: God is sufficient unto Himself. He requires nothing outside of Himself to exist and be happy.عطايا الله : إن الله كافِ لنفسِه

11. yoke: Burden, workload. حدود . أعباء
12. post: Travel. سافر . رحل
