يحدد ويصف أربعة خصائص "وظيفة الكاتب":
و-"وظيفة الكاتب" يرتبط النظام القانوني
و-"وظيفة الكاتب" لا يؤثر في جميع النصوص بنفس الطريقة
و-"وظيفة الكاتب" هو أكثر تعقيدا مما يبدو عليه.
