1. Definition of Postcolonialism
is the study of the legacy of the era of European, and sometimes American, direct global domination, which ended in the mid-20th century, and the residual political, socio-economic, and psychological effects of that colonial history.

2.types of colonialism: settler and exploitation
settler / for example, France settled in Algeria for numbers of years . Exploitation , they exploit; they go and find out like the Dutch who wentto the Far East (Far East like Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore). They are making use and manipulate theirpowers, natural products and wealth

3.characteristics of post-colonialism
1- An awareness of representations of thenon-European as exotic or immoral 'Other'.
2- An awareness of the tainted nature of thecolonizers' language.
3- An awareness of the double nature ofidentity of both colonizer and colonized.
4- An awareness of cross-cultural interactions as demonstrated in the three stages:
a/ Adopt European form and subject matter
b/ Adapt European form to African subjectmatter
c/ Adept or independent form and subjectmatter

1- the Caribbean poetry, they are speaking of themselves as African because in general they are coming from Africa.
4- The languages of the Caribbean reflect the region's diverse history and culture. Their language is based on colonial history. There are official languages spoken in the Caribbean: Spanish, English, French and Dutch.
5- The Caribbean is passed. it is made of different literatures, different places, by different groups and ethnic groups, minority, tribes and races. It is like fabric.
6- Caribbean Literature is woven with the historical issues of enslavement and forced migration, the related themes of home and exile, and colonialism and decolonization ,sense of alienation, sense of exile, belonging or nostalgia, theme of tradition and dispora آلشتآت .
