1- The Romantic Movement in literature is one of the most influential movements. Mention five of the main characteristics of the Romantic poetry

1- Romantic poetry shows a new faith in man with all his feelings, senses and all the sides of his experiences

2- It rejected rational intellect as the only source of poetry and stressed imagination and intuition as the supreme faculties of the poet

-3 The poet of the Romantics was a man speaking to men, but he was endowed with some special insight into the nature of things

4- Another predominant feature of the Romantic poetry is the sense of nostalgia for the past

-5- The Romantic poet sees the world through the eyes of a child. This is why Romantic poetry was described as poetry of wonder

2- How did the mother influence her boy in Blake’s The Little Black Boy

on his life

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3- Blake’s The Tyger has two levels of understanding. Explain

-1 On the surface, it portrays an image of a tiger which is compared to a fire burning at night

-2 But on a deeper level, the tiger here is an embodiment of God’s creative ability

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4- Explain how did Wordsworth in Daffodils signify his close identification with the nature

The daffodils imply beginning or rebirth for human beings, blessed with the grace of nature

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5- Explain how can the child be the father of the Man in Wordsworth’s The Rainbow

** he declares that children are superior to men because of their proximity to nature: "The Child is father of the Man

** “For this reason, he wishes to bind himself to his childhood self

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6- Show the Romantic characteristics in Byron’s She Walks in Beauty

** This is an idealistic image of beauty which exists in worlds other than this real one

** It lives in the poet’s imagination. It is a beauty one often meets in dreams in Romantics such as Wordsworth, Coleridge and Keats

** The poem is a lyric and its sounds are very important in the creation of its total effect

7- Comment on the structure of Byron’s When We Two Parted

the poem is all the time giving the feeling of the pain that the poet has due to the separation of the two lovers; what we cannot know is if the separation is because of death or maybe because “she” split up with him
