يعني / ان الـEtymology هو دراسة لتاريخ الكلمة واصلها وكيف شكلها ومعناها وكيف تغيرت مع مرور الوقت
وإن مصطلح (Etymology) للكلمة تعني أصل كلمة معينة .

يعني ان معظم الكلمات الانجليزية ليست من اصول انجليزية . بل لها اصول اخرى وسنستعرضها الآن .,

يعني / Coinage هي عملية تكوين وتشكيل كلمة جديدة ليس لها تاريخ او أصل معين .! اما عمدآ او عن طريق
الخطأ دون استخدام او الاستناد الى كلمة اخرى في تشكيل الكلمة الجديدة .

Borrowing is the word formation process in which a word from one language is borrowed directly into another language. For example, the following common English words are borrowed from foreign languages:

يعني / ان Borrowing هو اقتراض ( استعارة ) تشكيل الكلمة التي اقترضت من لغة اخرى واحدة مباشرة الى لغة اخرى
يعني كلمات مشتركة بين اللغتين يعني مو يعني لها تاريخ او اصل ثم صارت انجليزية . لا هي كلمات مشتركة

بين اللغتين .

chowmein – Chinese ( صينية - chowmein < أكلة صينية )
murder – French ( القتل - فرنسية )

Compounding
Compounding is the word formation process in which two or more lexemes combine into a single new word. Compound words may be written as one word or as two words joined with a hyphen

يعني / ان Compounding هو عملية تشكيل كلمتين او اكثر وجمعها في كلمة واحدة جديدة . قد يتم كتابة
كلمات مركبة وحدة او كلمتين . مثل /

noun-noun compound: note + book → notebook ( اسم - واسم . نوت + بوك = نوتبوك ) وهكذآ بآقي الأمثله,
adjective-noun compound: blue + berry → blueberry
verb-noun compound: work + room → workroom
verb-preposition compound: break + up → breakup

Compounds may be compositional, meaning that the meaning of the new word is determined by combining the meanings of the parts, or non-compositional, meaning that the meaning of the new word cannot be determined by combining the meanings of the parts. For example, a blueberry is a berry that is blue.

يعني / انه عند جمع الكلمات لتصيح مركبة عند الجمع لابد ان تكون الكلمة الجديدة لها معنى من خلال الجمع

بين معانيها مثل , blueberry is a berry that is blue ( التوت الأزرق هو . توت ولونة أزرق ) وهكذا .

Blending
Blending is the word formation process in which parts of two or more words combine to create a new word whose meaning is often a combination of the original words

يعني / ان Blending عملية لمزج الكلمات مع بعضها البعض لتشكل كلمة جديدة لها معنى مدموجه مع بعضها

وانها تختلف عن التي قبل فهذه دمج مع اختصار لبعض الحروف وليس دمج الكلمتين بكاملها مع بعض .!

مثل /

advertisement + entertainment →advertainment
biographical + picture → biopic
breakfast + lunch → brunch
motor + hotel → motel ( موتور - هوتيل ) صارت موتيل .. وهكذا
smoke + fog → smog
Spanish + English → Spanglish
spoon + fork →spork

Clipping :.
Clipping is the word formation process in which a word is reduced or shortened without changing the meaning of the word. Clipping differs from back-formation in that the new word retains the meaning of the original word

يعني ان Clipping هو عملية اختصار الكلمة وتقصيرها دون ان يتم تغيير في المعنى وهي تعيد تشكيل الكلمة
بشكل مختصر ولكن لاتغير معناها ابدا .

influenza – flu
laboratory – lab
mathematics – math
photograph – photo
telephone – phone

Clipping
The four types of clipping are back clipping, fore-clipping, middle clipping, and complex clipping. Back clipping is removing the end of a word as in gas from gasoline. Fore-clipping is removing the beginning of a word as in gator from alligator. Middle clipping is retaining only the middle of a word as in flu from influenza. Complex clipping is removing multiple parts from multiple words as in sitcom from situation comedy.

هنآك أربع أنوآع من اختصار الكلمة .

النوع الاول / back clipping وهو يزيل آخر الكلمة مثل كلمة gas من كلمة gasoline .

النوع الثآني / fore-clipping وهو يزيل أول الكلمة مثل كلمة gator من كلمة alligator .

النوع الثآلث / Middle clipping وهو يزيل وسط الكلمة مثل كلمة flu من كلمة influenza .

النوع الرآبع / Complex clipping وهو يزيل اجزاء متعددة من الكلمة مثل sitcom من كلمة situation comedy.
