Task 1, the revision questions, is due next week. Please submit before or by Wed. 13/3/2013. TO ALL STUDENTS IN LEVEL 6 Applied linguistics: task 1 Revision questions: Answer and keep in a file until requested: Hand writing answers are not acceptable)) Q1- define the following terms - Applied linguistics- cognitive skills- motivation-attitudes-parallel- distributing process-second language- foreign language-innate ability of learning- interference-Bilingualism Q2- write 10 lines comment on the following: 1-instructional variables 2-linguistic factors 3-age and acquisition Competence and performance 4- 5-comprehension and production 6-nature and nurture 7-universals 8-immitation 9-practice and frequency 10-language and thought Q 3- Discuss in less than 500 words the following issues: 1- Different schools of thoughts Learning strategies-2 Q3- Choose the correct answer 1-children learning their first language and adults learning second language are similar 2- The third school of thought is called Behaviarism. 3- Speaking and writing are called comprehension skills 4-Competence is related to production skills 5-In early stage of learning children imitate deep structure. 6-Adults tend to make competence rather than performance errors. |
