تعريف ال Thesis statement من المحتوى
The thesis statement is the sentence that tells the main idea of the whole essay. It can be compared to topic sentence which gives the main idea of paragraph. It usually comes at or near the end of the introductory paragraph.
من الاشياء اللي لازم نعرفها وتكلم عنها الدكتور في المباشرة الاخيرة هي متى يكون ال Thesis statement قوي strong ومتى يكون ضعيف weak

Writing a strong thesis statement
• A thesis statement gives the author's opinion or states an important idea about the topic. It should give an idea that can be discussed and explained with supporting ideas:
جملة ال thesis statement لا بد ان تعطي رأي الكاتب في موضوع معين , ولا بد ان يكون الموضوع قابل للنقاش والشرح , يعني ما تكون فكرة عامة أو حقيقة معلومه .
•A thesis statement should not be a sentence that only gives a fact about the topic:
جمله ال thesis statement لا ينبغي أن تكون جملة تعطي حقيقة عن موضوع معين .
مثال :
In the Northern Hemisphere, the summer months are warmer than the winter months.
هذه الجمله لا تصلح ان تكون thesis statement لانها حقيقة معلومه ان شهور الصيف اكثر حرارة من الشتاء ,, فهي حقيقة لا تقبل النقاش .
•A thesis statement should not state two sides of an argument equally:
جملة ال thesis statement لا ينبغي أن تكون بيان لوجهتي نظر حول موضوع معين.
مثال :
There are advantages and disadvantages to using nuclear power.
هذه الجملة لا تصلح أن تكون thesis statement لانها تتحدث عن مزايا وعيوب استخدام الطاقة النووية . ولا تعطي رأي واضح لكاتب المقال حول الموضوع .
بالامكان تصحيح الجمله لتكون جملة thesis statement قويه بهذا الشكل :
Although there are some advantages, using nuclear power has many disadvantages and should not be a part of our country's energy plan. This is a strong thesis statement. It clearly gives the writer's opinion about nuclear power.
بعدها راح نتكلم عن مشاكل ال thesis statement
وتسمى Thesis statement Pitfalls
جاء عليها سؤال الترم الماضي , كلمة pitfalls تعني عوائق او مشاكل لل Thesis statement
وهي ثلاثة مشاكل :
Problem 1: The thesis is too general.
المشكلة الاولى : أن تكون الجمله عامه too general
امثله عليها
TOO GENERAL A college education is a good investment.
TOO GENERAL Lasers are very useful .
هذه الجمل لا تصلح ان تكون Thesis statement فهي جمل عامة لا تقبل النقاش
Problem 2: The thesis makes a simple announcement.
المشكلة الثانية هي ان تكون الجمله عبارة عن اعلان .
مثال
ANNOUNCEMENT I am going to write about sports injuries.
هذه الجمله لا تصلح لان كتبت باسلوب الاعلان , فلما تقول انا سوف اكتب عن موضوع معين
هذا الاسلوب غير محبب , اكتب ال Thesis statement وخلاص  , ما له داعي تسوي اعلان
Problem 3: The Thesis stats an obvious fact.
المشكلة الثالثة هي أن تكون جملة ال Thesis statement عبارة عن حقيقة واضحة

OBVIOUS FACT The internet is a communication superhighway.
الانترنت هي طريقة التواصل السريعه .
هذه لا تصلح ان تكون Thesis statement لانها حقيقة الكل يعرفها ولا يوجد ما يقبل النقاش
