:Nouns
:Nouns can be divided to
الاسماء تنقسم الى قسمين
1. :Proper Nouns
الاسماء الصحيحه - اسم العلم:
e.g. Ahmed, احمد
, الاحساء Al-Ahsa
A proper noun is the name of someone or something that is usually imagined to be unique
الاسم الصحيح )العلم( هو اسم شخص أو شيء يُتَصَوَّرعادة اأن يكون فريد من نوعه أو مميز
2. :Common Nouns
الاسماء المشتركه
e.g. friend, desk, bird, air
A common noun is a name given either to an example of a class or to the class as a whole
الاسم المشترك هو اسم معطى إما مثالاا على فئه أو إلى الفئه ككل.
:Friend” refers to one example of a class in the following sentence"
e.g. 1. Ahmed is a good friend
في المثال الاول friend تعود على أحمد ، أي الى شخص واحد
:Friend” refers to the class as a whole in the following sentence"..
e.g. 2. A friend is somebody we like and know well
في المثال الثاني تعود friend على الفئه ككل ، في هذا المثال هو تعريف لكلمة " Friend"
Friend” in example 2 is called a generic noun"

Proper and common nouns ((as well as pronouns)) can refer to something:
a.animate شيء حي
b.inanimate- شيء غير حي - الجمادات.
الاسماء الصحيحه ) العَلَم ( او الاسماء المشتركه )) وكذلك الضمائر (( قد تشير إلى:
a. Animate
Animate nouns refer to a person or animal
أ- المتحركه - الأرواح
الاسماء المتحركه تشير الى شخص او حيوان..
مثال:
Ahmed, friend, bird
احمد )شخص..( Ahmed <
صديق )شخص..( friend <
عصفور) حيوان..( bird <
b. Inanimate
Inanimate nouns refer to a place, thing or an idea
ب - الجماد:
الاسماء الجامده تشير الى مكان أو شيء أو فكره..
مثال:
Al-Ahsa, desk, air, freedom
الاحساء )مكان..( Al-Ahsa <
طاولة) شيء..( desk <
هواء )شيء..( air <
حرية )فكره..( freedom <
:Count vs. Mass Nouns*
الاسماء المعدوده و الغير معدوده :
..(Nouns can either be countable (count nouns) or uncountable (mass nouns
-الاسماء قد تكون معدوده وتدعى -الاسماء المعدوده.
-وقد تكون غير معدوده وتدعى - الاسماء الغير معدوده "الكتله.
Count nouns such as “friend” and “man” can be preceded by “one” and may
have a plural form such as “friends” and “men” which can be preceded by a
number higher than one
الاسماء المعدوده تأتي كالتالي:
1- رجل واحد > اذا كان واحد )) مفرد..((
2- رجال> أكثر من واحد )) جمع..((
.. men هو الجمع لكلمة man
وfriends هو الجمع لكلمة friend
مثال:
.“two friends” and “ten men”
صديقان.. -two friends
عشرة رجال.. -ten men
.Mass nouns such as “bread” and “milk” cannot be preceded by “one” and do not have a plural form
الاسماء الغير المعدوده مثل
حليب milk / خبز bread
لا يمكن أن تسُبَقها كلمة one
وأيضا لا تملك صيغة جمع
.Some nouns can be used as both count and mass nouns according to the speaker’s meaning
بعض الاسماء يمكن استخدامها كاسم معدود واسم غير معدود "كتله" على حدٍ سواء وفقا لمعنى المتحدث..
مثال:
1. (Light travels faster than sound. (mass noun
Light هنا جاءت كلمة غير معدوده..
2. (There are two lights by his desk. (count noun
هنا جاءت كلمة lights معدوده
:Collective Nouns
الاسماء الجماعيه )اسم الجمع(
A collective noun is a singular word used to refer to a group
الاسم الجماعي هو كلمة مفرده تستخدم للاشارة إلى مجموعه..
مثال:
family, team, public
هو عدد من الناسfamily <
مجموعه من الاشخاص team <
ايضاا مجموعه من الاشخاصpublic <
A collective noun can be followed by a singular verb (is) or a plural verb (are)I
It may be associated with a singular possessive form (its), or a pluralone (their
الاسم الجماعي يُمْكِّن أن يُتْبَع بفعل المفرد is او الجمع are
وقد يترافق ذلك مع صيغة الملكيه للمفرد its او مع صيغة الملكيه للجمع (their)
المثال الاول:
Our team are the best
الجمله في المثال السابق يمكننا كتابتها مره ب is او are
وكلاهما صحيح
المثال الثاني:
2. Ahmed’s family moved to its new home
Ahmed’s family moved to their new home
الجمله في المثال السابق يمكننا كتابتها مره ب its او their
**ملحوظه قالها الدكتور :
يقول ما ينفع نكتب جملتين ورا بعض تكون إحداهما بصيغة المفرد والأخرى بصيغة الجمع لنفس الاسم ، يجب أن توُحّد الصيغه
Exercise
